The world’s richest man and Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, plans to spend $80 million on a real estate property in downtown Manhattan.

The three-story penthouse is located in the Flatiron District of New York City.

The billionaire intends to purchase the penthouse and the two adjacent units to enable him to merge the floors together to create a mega home, according to The New York Post.

The expansive penthouse, 10,079 square foot in size has five bedrooms, three powder rooms, 5 ½ bathrooms, and a private elevator. One of its two terraces is large enough to accommodate a pool.

The property is listed on StreetEasy. The real estate company describes the ancient house as an “iconic neo-Gothic early skyscraper.” The building was eventually to condominiums from manufacturing in 2015.

Each home in the vicinity has “floors of solid oak and marble, a custom kitchen with Ash mill-work, amble counters, and top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances, and bathroom finishes that include honed, polished and fluted marble and hand-dyed sycamore cabinetry.”

Some sources are of the opinion that these attractive features in addition to privacy attracted the billionaire to the building. This may be responsible for his decision to purchase the three units once for a whopping $80 million.

The residents are ecstatic about the prospect of having a successful businessman in their neighborhood.

The homeowners in the area are hopeful that his presence will increase the value of the neighborhood leading to a significant increase in apartment prices.
