A massive unprecedented probe of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google is set to be conducted at the hands of the United States Government to investigate the misuse of their market power.

Apple and Google under the Justice Department and Amazon and Facebook under the Federal Trade Commission have been divided and placed respectively for the investigation.

Well, the two federal agencies enforce antitrust laws in the United States. Results are not likely to come out soon as an FTC probe of Google conducted earlier took more than two years to complete.

Whether to open formal investigations on the companies or not is the decision that now rests in the hands of the two federal agencies.

Although the FTC and the Justice Department do not disclose the investigation, there was data received on the shares of the four companies.

Facebook shares fell 7.5%, 6% dip was seen in the shares of Google. A dip of 4.6% was seen in the shares of Amazon.com while Apple`s shares fell 1%.

U.S. President Donald Trump has often aimed at Amazon`s Chief Executive Jeff Bezos and has accused Amazon of taking advantage of the U.S. Postal Service.

Concerns among consumer groups, rivals and lawmakers are that these technology companies are wrecking business rivals and its users as these companies possess infinite power.

This concern is responsible for the backlash faced by the companies not only in the United States but all around the world.
