Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Zahara, takes an exciting step in her college journey by joining a prestigious sorority.
Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Hollywood icons Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has proudly become a part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College. Embracing her new sorority sisters, Zahara introduced herself with enthusiasm, “My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California.”
A video from Essence captures the vibrant atmosphere as the 18-year-old sophomore is seen alongside her fellow Alpha Kappa Alpha members, engaging in spirited dances and introducing herself to an excited audience.
Zahara’s choice of sorority is notable as Alpha Kappa Alpha holds the distinction of being the first historically Black sorority, founded in 1908. She joined the Mu Pi Chapter at Spelman, a chapter with its own rich history since its establishment in 1979.
Her journey at Spelman, a renowned Historically Black College and University (HBCU), began in 2022. Angelina Jolie, 48, shared the emotional experience of moving Zahara into college in August, posting a heartfelt Instagram photo of Zahara with her classmates. “Zahara with her Spelman sisters!” Jolie captioned, expressing pride and congratulating all new students.
Brad Pitt, 59, also shared his thoughts with PEOPLE, finding it “really beautiful” that Zahara chose Spelman College for her academic pursuits.
The move-in day was a family affair, with Jolie and Zahara meeting Spelman College President Dr. Helene Gayle and Vice President for Student Affairs Darryl Holloman. The memorable day was documented on Instagram, with Jolie candidly sharing her emotional state: “I’m gonna start crying! I have not started crying yet.”
Dr. Gayle humorously responded, anticipating more emotional moments ahead, particularly at an upcoming event designed to evoke heartfelt reactions.
Jolie, who co-parents twins Vivienne and Knox, 15, Shiloh, 17, Pax, 19, and Maddox, 22, with Pitt, seemed poised to embrace this new chapter in Zahara’s life, one filled with academic achievements and sisterhood bonds at Spelman College.
