All eyes were on this power couple as they squared off in a pickleball match for a worthy cause.
Pickleball supremacy is in the air, and Katy Perry claims it with gusto over her partner, Orlando Bloom!
On a sunny Monday, Katy Perry, 38, shared how she emerged as the pickleball victor against her 46-year-old fiancé, Orlando Bloom. This all happened during a charity match in Santa Barbara for her Firework Foundation.
Perry took to Instagram to share her exhilaration, “Family pickleball is a tradition, thanks to my mom’s (sometimes over-enthusiastic) love for it. And what’s better than channeling this pickle passion for a noble cause? ⚡.”
The post further read, “Our very first Light Up The Court pickleball challenge, under @fireworkfoundation’s banner, aimed to raise funds for scholarships and arts-focused programs for underprivileged kids. And just a little side note – I kind of showed off by beating @OrlandoBloom. Just saying 😈🙃.”
As a judge on American Idol, Perry knows the importance of appreciation. She took a moment to express gratitude for every individual and sponsor who contributed to the event’s success and the foundation’s vision. Co-founded with her sister Angela Hudson, Perry’s primary objective is to “offer young minds a space to rediscover their childhood.”
Footage from the event showcased the competitive spirit of the couple. After the match, Perry and her teammate were seen basking in their win. In a heartwarming moment, she approached Bloom to offer a comforting peck.
Always the trendsetter, Perry came dressed for success in a crisp white Firework Foundation tee, a catchy green skort, a sleek white visor, and coordinating knee-high socks.
This star-studded event didn’t just stop at Perry and Bloom. Celebs like actress Kate Hudson and Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, also joined the fun.
Reposting Perry’s clip on her Instagram story, a thrilled Sánchez, 53, commented, “Such a fantastic day! Played pickleball for an incredible initiative.”
For those unfamiliar, the Firework Foundation’s mission, as per their official website, is “fueling the creativity in children from less privileged backgrounds through the magic of the arts.”
Perry and Bloom’s enchanting love story began in 2016 post the Golden Globes. They experienced a brief pause in 2017, only to rekindle and get engaged by 2019. Bloom chose Valentine’s Day to pop the question with a captivating flower-themed diamond ring.
The duo then welcomed Daisy Dove, their daughter, in August 2020. Bloom also shares the joys of fatherhood with his 12-year-old son Flynn from his previous marriage to supermodel Miranda Kerr.
